The Samara Healing Center is a beautiful healing space surrounded by woods and protected farmland located outside of Taneytown, in north central Maryland. Only an hours’ drive from Baltimore and an hour and a half from Washington DC, Samara offers a serene, natural setting to experience an array of mind/ body healing modalities for individuals, couples and groups.

We also offer weekly programs and facilitate personalized spiritual day retreats. The Center is home to the Pyramid Sanctuary, a sweat lodge, outdoor shower, and organic gardens. Practitioners at the center provide:

Acupuncturist Jim Thomas, and Sound Healer Paul Thomas are committed to supporting the unique healing path of each individual that honors the integrity of the body, mind and spirit. They believe that a healthy individual cannot exist apart or isolated from a healthy community that sustains them, and that each person’s awakening contributes to the healing and awakening of the world.

“Samara” is the Latin word for a winged seed, like the maple whirligigs we loved to throw into the air as children. Like a seed, Samara represents rebirth, revitalization and renewal. Jim Thomas M. Ac., Samara’s founder, built it over a four year period with the intention of it becoming a day retreat location where visitors can learn, heal, relax and simply enjoy nature.
