Committed to preserving historical and natural environmental heritage, while providing residents with regional recreation facilities, the St. Charles County Parks Department currently has 12 parks open to the public - Bangert Island (in St. Charles), Broemmelsiek Park (south of O'Fallon), County Heritage Museum at Heritage Park (in St. Peters), Hideaway Harbor Park (near Portage des Sioux), The Historic Daniel Boone Home (in Defiance), Indian Camp Creek Park (near Foristell), Louis H. Bangert Memorial Wildlife Area (in St. Charles), Klondike Park (in Augusta), Matson Hill Park (in Defiance), Quail Ridge Park (in Wentzville), Towne Park (north of Wentzville) and the Youth Activity Park (in Dardenne Prairie).
