Mental Health America of Central Carolinas is a staffed, nonprofit agency with a volunteer board serving Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties, with advocacy as its primary role in the community. This is accomplished through programs such as Compeer, ParentVOICE, Legislative Advocacy and Grassroots Network (AIMWell), Suicide Prevention Training, Community Outreach, Information and Referral Service, Coalitions and Committees. MHA promotes collaboration, cooperation, and communication among and between the local mental health services providers. It serves as a catalyst in promoting needed mental health services and improvements to the delivery system in the community.

MHA of Central Carolinas is affiliated with Mental Health America at the national level and is a members of the North Carolina MHA Collaborative.
